PM Mitsotakis: ‘Supporting families remains our priority’

“Supporting families was and remains our priority,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a social media post on Monday, conveying his best wishes to all for the coming holiday season.
Referring to the “Christmas Basket” and “Household Basket” measures aiming to offer lower prices for essential consumer goods – including those needed for a Christmas dinner during the festive season – Mitsotakis noted that this will also include products such as lamb, goat and turkey meat, traditional New Year pies, tsoureki buns and chocolates.
“Christmas always brings joy to families and especially to children. However, they also mean additional needs for adults. The State, therefore, has a duty to be at their side. Not only with general measures that improve their income or reduce their taxes but also with targeted initiatives for the expenses of these days,” the prime minister noted.
He announced that a ‘Santa’s Basket’ including a selection of lower-priced toys from 10 categories of products will start on December 18 and include even more goods, while the New Year purchases will be “enriched in terms of gift ideas” but “also cheaper for household budgets.”
