Celestyal Cruises to commence voyages in Greek waters on April 18

In a press briefing on Thursday, Celestyal CEO Chris Theophilides said the company aims directly at the viable growth of the cruise sector in Greece

Celestyal Cruises on Thursday announced that its inaugural cruise from Greek waters for the 2022 season will commence on April 18, with the voyages being three- and four-overnight stays aboard the vessel Celestyal Crystal.

The Celestyal Olympia will follow, while the Celestyal Crystal will later shift to weekly cruises.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Celestyal CEO Chris Theophilides said the company aims directly at the viable growth of the cruise sector in Greece.

Celestyal commenced cruises in Greek waters from mid June to the end of August last year, with capacity at a more-or-less 57 percent amid a still present pandemic. Interestingly enough, nearly 68 percent of its passengers were from the domestic and neighboring markets.

A new development for the 2022 season is the use of the small port of Lavrio – southeast of Athens proper – and the port of Thessaloniki in northern Greece as home ports.
