Paul Nicolaou, known for his exceptional work as Director of the Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Business Leaders Council, has been appointed Executive Director of the influential business advocacy group Business Sydney.
The appointment was announced by Business NSW Chief Executive officer Daniel Hunter who said Mr Nicolaou “will lead Business Sydney through the challenging economic times we are currently experiencing due to COVID, to the more prosperous, exciting and opportunistic times that are coming.
“Mr Nicolaou’s appointment is particularly promising, bearing in mind his success in growing the ACCI membership from 35 to 147 over his seven-year tenure.
Mr Nicolaou also has over 25 years of experience in advocacy, networking, media and stakeholder engagement to help charitable causes and assist those in need.
The son of Greek parents who emigrated separately from Egypt, Nicolaou traces his passion for philanthropy to his mum and dad.
“My parents moved to Australia with nothing. I watched them helping my school and the church as I was growing up, with great respect. I think my love of philanthropy stems from them,” he had told Sydney’s Northside newspaper in the past.
