Raptakis asks Obama Andministration to get behind fair resolution to economic crisis in Greece/ Gr

The Greek American state of Rhode Island Senator Leonidas Raptakis calls US President Barack Obama to encourage states-EU members to negotiate “in good faith” and “understanding” with Greece in order to overcome the economic crisis in birth place the last five years.

The intervention of the Greek-American politician comes at a time when the Euro-group appears to remain unmoved in the austerity policy that has “kneel” the Greek people, as stated in the report of Mr. Raptakis.

In his intervention, the Greek-American politician, inter alia states:

(Coventry, RI 3/2/15) Even though the Eurogroup nations have negotiated an agreement to extend support to the Greek government, Rhode Island State Senator Leonidas Raptakis is asking the Obama administration to support a fair settlement of the Greek economic crisis that does not simply demand greater austerity with no regard for the consequences.

In a letter to the President, Raptakis suggested the President was right to point out that the European Union “cannot keep on squeezing countries that are in the midst of depression.” He also said the President was right to argue that “at some point there has to be a growth strategy in order for them to pay off their debts to eliminate some of the deficits.” Raptakis said such an approach is going to require a strong U.S. push to encourage the Eurogroup to avoid imposing demands for structural reforms which will destroy the Greek economy and prevent a recovery which will allow Greece to get back on its feet.

“The United States has a chance to demonstrate meaningful leadership and encourage the EU nations to negotiate in good faith with an understanding of the need to recognize domestic political concerns in Greece,” said Raptakis. “Imposing unrealistic financial demands is only going to lead to greater instability and force Greece and other nations in dire economic straits down the road of default and withdrawal from the union.”

Raptakis said the Obama administration’s support for a more balanced approach will not only help Greece, but ensure greater stability throughout Europe. He said recent weeks of brinksmanship and threats cannot be repeated and America must support honest negotiations and

a process of give-and-take that allow Greece to grow its way out financial difficulties. By keeping the parties focused on their common interests, the U.S. can play a vital role in promoting an outcome that will promote great stability in the world’s financial markets.

“We have a chance to help Greece forge a new path toward economic prosperity,” said Raptakis. “But that can only happen with an honest dialogue that promotes realistic reforms, developed in cooperation with Greek government and giving the flexibility they need to maintain domestic support for their efforts.”>>

Ο Ελληνοαμερικανός Πολιτειακός Γερουσιαστής του   Rhode Island Λεωνίδας Ραπτάκης, καλεί τον Αμερικανό πρόεδρο Μπαράκ Ομπάμα να ενθαρρύνει τα κράτη-μέλη της ΕΕ να διαπραγματευτούν “με καλή πίστη” και με “κατανόηση” με την Ελλάδα προκειμένου να ξεπεραστεί η οικονομική κρίση που μαστίζει τη γεννέτηρα τ τελευταία πέντε χρόνια.

Η παρέμβαση του Ελληνοαμερικανού πολιτικού έρχεται σε μία στιγμή όπου το Euro group δείχνει να μένει αμετακίνητο στην πολιτική της σκληρής λιτότητας που έχει “γονατίσει” τον Ελληνικό λαό, όπως αναφέρει στην αναφορά του ο κ. Ραπτάκης.

Στην παρέμβασή του, ο ελληνοαμερικανός πολιτικός, μεταξύ άλλων αναφέρει:

“Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες έχουν την ευκαιρία να επιδείξουν ηγετική παρουσία και να ενθαρρύνουν τα κράτη της ΕΕ να διαπραγματευθούν με καλή πίστη με κατανόηση της ανάγκης να αναγνωρίσουν τις εγχώριες πολιτικές ανησυχίες στην Ελλάδα», δήλωσε ο Ραπτάκης. «Επιμονή σε παράλογες οικονομικές απαιτήσεις θα είναι μόνο για να οδηγήσουν σε μεγαλύτερη αστάθεια και να αναγκάσουν την Ελλάδα και άλλες χώρες να περιέλθουν σε δεινή οικονομική κατάσταση κάτω από το μπαμπούλα  της αθέτησης των συμφωνηθέντων

και αποχώρησης από την Ένωση».

Ο κ. Ραπτάκης, ζήτησε την υποστήριξη της κυβέρνησης Ομπάμα για μια πιο ισορροπημένη προσέγγιση η οποία όχι μόνον  θα βοηθήσει την Ελλάδα, αλλά θα εξασφαλίσει και μεγαλύτερη σταθερότητα σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη. Είπε ακόμη ότι τις τελευταίες εβδομάδες η μικροπολιτική και οι απειλές δεν μπορεί να επαναληφθούν και πως  η Αμερική πρέπει να υποστηρίξει ειλικρινείς διαπραγματεύσεις και μια διαδικασία δούναι και λαβείν που επιτρέπουν στην Ελλάδα να αυξηθεί το δρόμο του έξω απότις  οικονομικές δυσκολίες. Με την τήρηση των κομμάτων εστιάστηκε στα κοινά τους συμφέροντα, οι ΗΠΑ μπορούν να διαδραματίσουν ζωτικό ρόλο στην προώθηση ενός αποτελέσματος που θα προωθήσει την μεγάλη σταθερότητα στις χρηματοπιστωτικές αγορές του κόσμου.
«Έχουμε μια ευκαιρία να βοηθήσει την Ελλάδα να σφυρηλατήσει μια νέα πορεία προς την οικονομική ευημερία», είπε ο Ραπτάκης. “Αλλά αυτό μπορεί να συμβεί μόνο με μια ειλικρινή διάλογο που προωθεί ρεαλιστικές μεταρρυθμίσεις, που αναπτύχθηκε σε συνεργασία με την ελληνική κυβέρνηση και δίνοντας την ευελιξία που χρειάζονται για να διατηρήσουν την εγχώρια στήριξη για τις προσπάθειές τους.»
