Αξιότιμε κ. Διευθυντά,

Με πολλήν ικανοποίησιν ανεγνώσαμεν το κύριον άρθρον της Κυριακάτικης εκδόσεως της υμετέρας εγκρίτου εφημερίδος “Εθνικός Κήρυξ” το δημοσιευθέν εις το φύλλον της 12ης τρέχοντος μηνός, υπό τον τίτλον Η Ελληνική Έκπαίδευσις¹, και σπεύδομεν να σας συγχαρώμεν καί συγχρόνως να σας ευχαριστήσωμεν.

Είναι έκδηλον το ζωηρόν ενδιαφέρον του αγαπητού Εθνικού Κήρυκος δια το θέμα της Ελληνοαμερικανικής Παιδείας και από της απόψεως αυτής, αι δημιουργικαί ιδέαι, τας όποιας εκθέτετε εις αυτά, με ύφος σαφέστατον, συμβάλλον τά μέγιστα εις την αντιμετώπ ισι  καί οριστικήν λύσιν αυτού.

Τοιαύτα άρθρα ωφελούν οπωσδήποτε, και δια τούτο ευχόμεθα όπως την θέσιν ην λαμβάνετε έναντι των Ελληνικών Σχολείων ενταύθα την δεχθούν ως καλόν παράδειγμα προς μίμησιν, καί όλαι αι άλλαι Ελληνικαί  εφημερίδες Αμερικής.

Και πάλιν  σας  ευχαριστούμεν και   διατελούμεν

Εντιμότατε κ. Διευθυντά,

Συγχαίρομεν υμιν δια την προς τους Έλληνας Γονείς σύστασιν την δημοσιευθείσαν εις το φύλλον της 8ης Σεπτεμβρίου έ.έ. του αγαπητού Εθνικού Κήρυκος.

Πράγματι καθήκον ιερόν των γονέων είναι όπως αποστέλλωσι, παρά τας υφισταμένας δυσχέρειας ενιαχού, τα τέκνα των προς εκμάθησιν της Ελληνικής γλώσσης ήτις είναι και γλωσσά της αρχαίας σοφίας του Ευαγγελίου, των Αγίων Συνόδων, της θείας ημών Λατρείας, αλλά και γλώσσα του πολιτισμού καθ’ όλους τους αιώνας και καθ’ όλον τον κόσμον.

Ορθότατα δε τονίζεται εις την εν λόγω σύστασιν οτι η προσπάθεια των γονέων όπως αποστέλλουν τα τέκνα των εις τα Ελληνικά Σχολεία, Ημερήσια ή Απογευματινά» έχει ανυπολόγιστον  σημασιαν.

Πιστεύομεν επί πλέον και εις πάσαν ευκαιρίαν τονίζομεν ότι η αύξησις των σχολείων δεν αυξάνει κατ’ από­λυτον λόγον και τους μαθητάς  αλλ’  ότι η προσπάθεια των γονέων όπως αποστέλλουν τα τέκνα των εις τα σχολεία  ημών θα αύξηση και τους μαθητάς και αυτά  ταύτα τα σχολεία.

Καί αύθις  συγχαίροντες υμιν δια τους υπερ της Ελληνικής γλώσσης και παιδείας ειρηνικούς αγώνας του αγαπητού  Εθνικού Κήρυκος διατελούμεν

Dear Mr. Marketos

It is a pleasure to convey warmest greetings to our fellow-citizens whose ancestry stems fromGreece- the great nation which gave to mankind so much of the arts and the sciences,, and, above all, the fundamental concepts of truly democratic life.

During my travels at home and overseas, I have – on countless occasions – seen and admired the progressive spirit,, the respect for law, the sense of patriotism and the enterprising capacity of Americans of Hellenic descent.  Their contributions toward our common progress and common welfare stand proudly for all to see. The same can be said about Greece, which; as you so well know, has given to history some of the most outstanding examples of devotion to the ideals of freedom, of patriotism and the dignity of man.

This Nation is happy to have enjoyed cordial relations withGreecefrom the days of James Monroe through Woodrow Wilson and his successors.  Under the unforgettable leadership of Harry S. Truman, theUnited Statesenabled heroicGreeceto withstand suc­cessfully the cruel onslaught of Communist aggression and sub­version.  Thanks to the statesmanship of John F. Kennedy and now, Lyndon B. Johnson, we have continued to strengthen our close ties withGreece.

If elected to the Vice Presidency, it will be my honor and privilege, under the direction of our great President, to help carry on in this fine tradition of warm Greek-American coopera­tion and alliance.

Now, may I take this opportunity – on the occasion of the 49th Anniversary of the National Herald – to express my appreciation to you, Mr. Marketos, for your newspaper’s gratifying support during this crucial campaign. In so doing, you have demonstrated the confidence which you have so eloquently expressed in President Johnson, in myself and in the Democratic Ticket.
