Η Guardian προτείνει αν πάρουμε το τρόπαιο να σβυστεί όλο το χρέος!

Οι Άγγλοι, που ανέκαθεν ασκούν σκληρή κριτική στις επιτυχίες του ελληνικού αθλητισμού και ακόμα και μετά την κατάκτηση του Euro 2004 λοιδόρησαν τον Ότο Ρεχάγκελ και τους διεθνείς, έσπευσαν λίγες ώρες μετά την επική πρόκριση επί της Ρωσίας (1-0) να αποθεώσουν την Εθνική.

Ιδού πως έκλεισε το κείμενο που βρισκόταν στο live της αναμέτρησης της Βαρσοβίας στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση του «Guardian», όπου γίνονται εγκωμιαστικά σχόλια στην απόδοση των Ελλήνων διεθνών:

«Συγχαρητήρια στην Ελλάδα, δεν είμαστε σίγουροι για το πώς, αλλά τα κατάφεραν», έγραφε χαρακτηριστικά το κομμάτι στον «Guardian» και συμπληρωνόταν: «Πιθανότατα θα κατακτήσουν και το τρόπαιο τώρα. Αν τα καταφέρουν θα πρέπει να σβηστεί όλο το χρέος τους. Μάλλον θα παίξουν με τη Γερμανία στη συνέχεια. Η μοντέρνα ιστορία δείχνει ότι αυτή είναι μια από τις μεγαλύτερες κόντρες που μπορούν υπάρξουν».

Και το σχόλιο γραμμένο στα αγγλικά: «Full Time: Greece 1-0 Russia. Greece go through to the last eight. Russia are out. That is astonishing. Truly astonishing.

9:39pm: Incredible scenes as the Greece players celebrate and the rest of us wonder if we’re back in 2004. We’ve seen all this before, haven’t we? They defended so well in the second half once they had a lead to protect. The goal itself was bizarre – I still maintain that they were barely even trying to score, they were just eating up time to get to the interval at 1-0. But Karagounis got the goal – he should have had a penalty. He picked up a booking which means he’ll miss the last right match which would be his record appearance. Holebas also got booked at the end and he too will be suspended but is less of a loss. Congratulations to Greece. I’m not sure how they’ve done it but they have. They’ll probably go and win the tournament now. If they do I think all their debt should be cancelled. They will probably play Germany next.
